History

About 5,000 years ago, a remarkable way of life, or civilization, grew up along the banks of the Nile River in Egypt. In 3100, king Menes created Egypt by uniting the two parts of Egypt, also known as the Upper and Lower Egypt into a single kingdom. It took over 3,000 years to flourish unlike other civilizations. Then Menes started Memphis in the north and Abydos in the south. Finally in 3300 they had enough symbols to record their history. Later a series of strong and able rulers established a well organized government. Egypt is among the most influential Arab state and it lies between Africa and the Middle East. This ancient country holds a history of over 6,000 years of exciting attractions for travelers such as the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the tomb of King Tut.
